I get it. I am divorced. I have walked in your shoes and I understand how confusing, overwhelming and frustrating divorce can be, especially if you are a mom.
Before law school, I was a stay-at-home mother for 8 years. My children were born at home with a midwife. We homeschooled. I practiced attachment parenting, co-sleeping, and raised them as ethical vegans. I founded and ran The Vegetarian Kids Group, a group of 200 local vegetarian families. I wrote for vegetarian magazines and participated in a Waldorf inspired co-op.
The divorce rocked my world. I was terrified of what the courts would make of my parenting choices. I had no idea what my rights were or what to do next. In the end, I successfully and peacefully negotiated my own divorce. I went on to attend law school while raising two daughters as a single mom.
My interest in holistic living and parenting brought me to want to work within those communities. Additionally, I'm raising two children with chronic illness. One has AS (Ankylosing spondyllitis) and the other has Type 1 Diabetes and wears an insulin pump. This experience plus managing my own diagnosis with Celiac Disease has given me a special appreciation of families dealing with chronic illness or special needs children.
